L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara (Lash Out Butterfly)

Hello, Beauties!

You all know how I love L'Oreal Voluminous Mascaras. So when I saw that they were coming out with yet another version, I knew I just had to have it.

I stumbled across the new Voluminous Butterfly Mascara at my local Wal-Mart and snatched it up in the shade Blackest Black (868). I have been using it for two weeks now, and wanted to share my results with you.

The applicator is like nothing I have ever seen before. It has two "wings" that are open on the sides. The "winged" side is great for the top lashes, while the opposite side with the very short bristles is perfect for the bottom lashes. It did take some getting used to, but not long after beginning my very first application of the product, I got used to it.

It is a nice, wet formula that is very similar to the Voluminous Million Lashes mascara. I personally love this type of texture in my mascaras. It has the signature "L'Oreal Voluminous" scent, so if you are not a fan of the way that those mascaras smell, you probably will not enjoy the scent of this one. I find that the scent is fairly strong, and I do notice it hours after application, but the scent doesn't bother me. It gives great length to your lashes and a fair amount of volume. The formula is a nice jet black shade. I felt that my lashes were very well separated after using this mascara and there was no issue with clumping, smudging or flaking at all.

Left side after using Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, right side with nothing.

One thing that I don't like about this mascara is that the brush is not symmetrical. The side with the "wings" is tapered to a point and the winged side is supposed to be applied to the outer lashes and the slimmer side pointed towards the inner lashes. I personally don't like to use my left hand when applying mascara, (can you say hot mess, anyone?) so the winged side gets applied to the inner corner. Honestly, I don't notice a difference between the side that is winged and the slimmer side.

Overall, I think my lashes turn out looking great after using this product. The brush is innovative, but I don't think my results are any different than when I use Voluminous Million Lashes. I think it is a great mascara, and if you like the brush, I think you will love this product!

I just bought this too after I saw it on Project Runway but haven't opened it. I actually didn't like the wet formula of the L'oreal Voluminous but now I am using it again and it's "less wet" I like it! Thanks for this review now I kinda know what to expect when I open it up!

Yes, I have heard a lot of people say that once they open their Voluminous mascaras and let them sit for a week or two, they like the consistency much better! Let me know what you think of this one!
