Makeup Emergency!

Hello, Beauties!

Have you ever found yourself in a makeup emergency? This morning, I did.

I had to leave the house super early for a setup at work this morning. I decided that I would put my makeup on after the setup so I would have a fresh face when I met with my clients. About halfway into my 45 minute commute, I realized that I left my makeup bag at home! PANIC!

By a stroke of luck I happened to have the Tarte Aqualillies palette in my bag, so I was covered on eyeshadow, blush, bronzer and highlighter; but that was literally all I had besides a Body Shop Lip Balm. My plan of action was to hit up Target as soon as they opened and fill in the blanks with the products I needed. Here is a list of what I needed followed by what I purchased and first impression review.

Foundation: Maybelline FIT me! shine-free foundation stick in shade 220 - I have been using this everyday for the past month, so this is not a new product for me. It is easy, hassle free, provides just enough coverage without looking cakey and I just love it.

Concealer: L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer &
Corrector in Light - I have been wanting to try this product for a VERY long time, having been a huge fan of  YSL Touche Eclat. I think that this product is just as great as the YSL version, and brightens and conceals my undereye area beautifully for a fraction of a price.

Eyeshadow Base: Milani Shadow Eyez 12 Hr Wear Eyeshadow in Winter White - I know that these are not necessarily meant to be used as an eyeshadow base, but I have been wanting to try these for quite some time, and figured that this was an excuse to do so. I typically use my MAC Paint Pot in Painterly everyday under my eyeshadow. This is definitely NOT a replacement for that, but it is very pretty and looks especially good as an inner highlight on my eyes!

Eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto in Blackest Black - I was really torn as to which drugstore eyeliner to choose. I had heard great things about Milani's liquid and pencil liners, as well as Rimmel's pencil liners. I had also seen a few youtubers rave about the Line Stiletto eyeliner by Maybelline, so I decided to go with this one since it was nothing like the others I own. I absolutely LOVE this liner. It is jet black and it glides on like a dream. You are able to get a very fine line, but you can also build it up. It is great for a detailed winged or cat look as well.

Mascara: Maybelline The Rocket in Very Black - I feel like I must be the last person in the world to try this mascara. People rave about it, but for some reason, I always pass over it when I am at the drugstore. Today I decided to just go for it since they were out of my new HG Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless. It is definitely a great mascara, but Rimmel is still my number one! I feel like my lashes look great, but not WOW! I am impressed by it though.

Lipstick: Boots No7 Moisture Drench in Romantic - I picked this up on a whim while I was looking for the Boots No7 Nude Lip Liner (they were sold out. ugh!). I didn't really know what to expect from this lipstick, but I just grabbed a color that I thought would suit my skintone and didn't think anymore about it. When I put this on, I was shocked at how amazingly moisturizing this was. Honestly, this is one of the best lipsticks I have ever tried, and I am shocked that I don't hear more about it. I have dry lips and always have to apply a balm before I apply lipstick, and with this one I didn't need it at all. The color is pretty; not my favorite color in the world, but I will purchase more shades from this collection!

Brush for Foundation/Concealer: ELF Small Stipple Brush - I surprisingly really liked this brush! I didn't really know what to expect, considering it was only $3.00. It is a duo fibre brush, and I found it to be more dense than my MAC 188 brush that is similar. It blended my foundation and concealer nicely and I had absolutely zero bristle fallout, which is more than I can say about my MAC 188 which sheds every time I use it.

Blush Brush: ELF Brush Blush - This brush was fine. Nothing special, nothing terrible. It was only three dollars, so who can complain about that?

Eyeshadow Brush: Sonia Kashuk No. 203 Large Shader Brush - I love the size of this brush. It was nice and soft and worked well to pack color onto the lid and to highlight my brow bone. It was on sale for $6.99, but I probably would not pay more for this brush.

Eyeshadow Brush: ELF Professional Blending Eye Brush - Again, I was surprised at how much i liked this ELF Brush.  I found it to be a little more dense than the Ecotools blending brush that I use daily, but still very soft. I really liked the amount of color that it transferred onto my crease, and it blended very well. This will probably make it into my everyday routine. This brush was only $1.00; how amazing is that?

Sorry! The lighting was AWFUL in my office today.

Overall, I was so pleased with my selections. This actually turned into a positive experience because I was able to finally step out of my comfort zone and test out some products that I would have normally passed over for my 'usuals'. And to be honest, I felt like my makeup looked even better than normal!

Has this ever happened to you?
